Tidemark is currently a team of one. I otherwise have a full-time job, so this is a side hustle and a labour of love.

The Tidemark Security Philosophy​

A few core principles guide how I approach building software for security teams:

  • Focus on tools that reduce friction for security analysts.
  • Ask teams what they want and need. Solve real problems.
  • Build boring. Use stable, well-known technologies.
  • Build in the open and welcome contributions from the community.
  • Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) doesn't need to feel cheap. FOSS tools can and should beat the commercial alternatives.

Lean in heavily to make the best use of AI, but don't believe in magic bullets.

  • When used right, AI can give you super powers and act as a force multiplier for your team.
  • When used poorly, AI slop leads to the enshittification of work and distracts from the mission.
